Apologies for the delay in posting a new column! That’s what happens when strep and a fever knocks you off your booty for a week. We’re charging ahead at a breakneck speed with some plots, but I can’t complain if they’re as entertaining as Brenda’s liaison with Michael.

I didn’t think it could happen. But with the nostalgia fest that is this 50th anniversary year, it has. What is this surprising turn of events? That my Sonny and Brenda heart still beats despite knowing Vanessa Marcil is here on only a limited engagement. Despite being subjected to a year of Sonny supporting both a vapid fiancé and her highly obnoxious, annoying, time-sucking mess of an alter. Despite being fully aware that toxic is the definition of Sonny and Brenda’s relationship. Despite all that, I still love ‘em.
Kisses were exchanged like currency this week at General Hospital, but they didn’t seem to buy relationship advancement. What’s that all about? I’m glad Carly cut off her transaction with Todd, but why didn’t Sam take McBain to the bank?
Can you feel it in the air? There’s an action adventure storyline coming, and it will involve Robin, the Scorpios, the Joneses, the Spencers, the everyones. The Ice Princess will tie in, too, and maybe Pickle Lila is the key to disabling it. Whatever’s coming, it will be glorious. And I will be watching.
We have vampires and slayers, Pickle Lila and the missing Q heir, Frisco swearing to seduce Felicia once again, and Laura in town. These storylines have a lot of potential, but so many of them are just having their groundwork laid. Is it a problem that Kristina attacking Connie engaged me the most?
Sleeping with two guys on the same day and having a paternity issue arise is a soap staple. Which means I have to give the writing team props for tweaking that plot twist into losing one baby and conceiving another on the same night. It’s original, at least. But as my tone may indicate, I’m still not thrilled with the existence of a little Jackal.
Welcome to my first prescription for General Hospital of 2013! These two weeks have surprised me with unexpectedly hot love scenes and curveballs regarding who was most injured in the crash. Sorry, Trey. Most surprising for me, however, was that Connie showed signs of a conscience … and I cared.
In the space of one week, we’ve had significant screen time devoted to two possibly returning characters: Lorenzo Alcazar and Lucy Coe. I am mildly interested in the return of Lorenzo, but teasing Lucy Coe and the Nurses’ Ball is like sprinkling catnip all over my favorite fake mouse. If I were a cat, that is. Perhaps the clearer description would be to declare that I’ll put up with Sabrina for it.
The last two weeks featured the introduction of Lila Rae Alcazar, the death of Edward Quartermaine, and the returns of Ned Ashton, Skye Chandler, and Robert Scorpio. But I think I should begin with something of great significance. Something I never thought would happen and actually dreaded should it occur. I’m talking, of course, of Dante’s haircut.
In the past month, Heather Webber jumped off the hospital roof, Daniel Morgan displayed the ability to teleport right into his father’s arms, that same father ended up shot by Duke Lavery and swimming with the fishes, and Heather Webber woke up with nothing more than a head wound from the fall. Am I caught up?
