IMPORTANT:  Please GO TO THE GHFCW WEBSITE before emailing your questions about events to the fan club.  Many of your questions are answered in the two FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) pages in the red menu toward the top of the site.  Reading this information CAREFULLY gets you your answers faster and frees the GHFCW staff up to work on the weekend itself!  Do NOT email Debbie Morris with fan club weekend related questions.  A contact link is provided on the GHFCW website for those questions.

Jen Lilley staying on General Hospital

Jen took to Twitlonger on Valentines day to make the following announcement: First, I, Jen Lilley, LOVE Kirsten Storms. I think she’s talented, funny, beautiful, and kind. While I have loved my time on GH, I think it’s under the saddest of conditions that I’m there.

Producer parts ways with Daytime Emmys

Variety is reporting: The Daytime Emmy awards broadcast will be looking for another producer after Associated Television International bowed out Thursday.

Executive producer Jim Romanovich announced in a statement that ATI, which had shepherded the kudocast the past three years, had passed on returning for 2012.

“As fans of the soaps in particular, as well as being daytime producers ourselves, we have immensely enjoyed being a part of your celebration these past three years,” Romanovich said.

The Doctor’s Order

When I’m behind on my General Hospital viewing, I catch up all in one fell swoop, devoting far too many hours to Port Charles. That sort of viewing also lends itself to picking out certain things I may not notice otherwise, and this time was no exception. What did I notice? That there is a massive amount of new characters on General Hospital taking up a lot of screen time, and I’m not even counting Maxie’s temporary recast or Kate’s recast. Consider this a rundown of my take on the newbies and learn which ones I hope make it through to whatever new plots Ron Carlivati cooks up.

About Those GH Rumors…

Hello Everyone. As you can imagine, the GH Fan Club staff is busy preparing for the upcoming GH Fan Club Weekend event.  Be sure and look for the launch of this year’s GH Fan Club Weekend official site tomorrow, January 24th.  It will answer a lot of questions you have about this year’s event.

Speaking of questions, I have received a number of emails from fans concerned about the continuation of General Hospital amid all of the rumors that are currently circulating.  Of course, it is difficult to not be concerned about our remaining show with the demise of All My Children and One Life to Live still stinging and I would be lying if I said the thought had not crossed my own mind.

I want to make certain to clarify that at this time, there is NO official announcement about General Hospital being canceled and UNofficially, I have also not been informed of any plans in that direction.  My instincts tell me that there are still some factors to be considered before we get to that point.

Unless and until ABC issues an official announcement, the GH Fan Club will be proceeding as usual with the idea that the show will continue in some form.  If I hear otherwise, I will absolutely let you know.  Beyond that, I do not know any more than you folks do.  I encourage you not to let the rumors become fact for you.  That does not mean will won’t get discouraging news down the road, but it’s not here yet, so the GH Fan Club continues it’s mission of celebrating the show we have enjoyed since 1963.

The budding relationship of Sonny and Kate is like a florentine cookie that’s burnt at the edges. They are sharing loads of adorable moments—Sonny learning to play the trumpet, reliving their youths in Bensonhurst. But those moments are marred by the bitter taste of ashes. Kate was nearly killed at the altar because she planned to marry Sonny. Sonny has only become more entrenched in his lifestyle since then, seeking solace in revenge for that act and every act that has followed. And so the joys of their renewed connection, even the surety that Kate knows Sonny the person rather than Sonny the mobster, will always be spoiled by no more than a drop of his life’s astringency.

General Hospital Fan Club Weekend Dates Annouced!

Thank you for your interest in the Official General Hospital Cocktail Kick Off  and the Official General Hospital Main Cast Event.  This year the events will be held at the Sportsman’s Lodge Event Center in the heart of Studio City, CA.  Located at the corner of Ventura Blvd and Cold Water Canyon.

Official GHFC Cocktail Kick Off Event – July 19, 2012
Official GHFC Main Cast Event – July 21, 2012

  • Tickets go on sale January 21, 2012

Our hotel of choice is The Sportsman’s Lodge Hotel also located in Studio City sitting directly next door to the Event Center (this info for the newbies).   GHFCW rooms go on sale Monday January 16, 2012 at 9:00 am PST.

We will announce the full GHFCW line up at the end of January early February after the dust settles on all the new changes.  Now do not read anything into that statement that is not there. Everyone is on board; all the folks who have always had events are getting everything lined up in their usual time slots along with a few new ones we will also announce.  The weekend is and will be fully packed as always.  With the fan club announcing the dates so late it just makes sense to wait until all contracts are signed to make the complete announcement.   To be fair to every actor it would be inappropriate to announce some and not all who wish to host their own events on this jam packed weekend.  Giving everyone equal billing.
